GAS STATIONS GET A NOD TO ADD MORE ETHANOL TO THE FUEL

Cars and light trucks that were manufactured in the year 2007 and after many have a higher blend of ethanol in their fuel use. A 15 percent mixture is allowed to be added in the fuels. Currently about ten percent of ethanol blended in the fuels. While people owning vehicles that are older may have to be careful with the ethanol content in their petrol.

Environmental Protection Agency is again making all efforts to see to it that people do not unknowingly start using this high ethanol content based fuel. Gas stations should give a sign on the pumps denoting the content of ethanol in the fuel that the customer is about to fill his car with. The EPA is the one that put the blending amount as fifteen percent. In the mean time the ethanol companies are wishing for more amount of ethanol to be used. They claim that it is absolutely safe and fine to do so.

In the meant time testes are going to be made on vehicles made between 2001 and 2006. If the test approves then these vehicles may also use the high ethanol based fuels. While vehicles manufactured before this time period will have to wait further for getting the approval of EPA to use high ethanol based fuels.

In the mean time, auto industry, environmentalists, food companies and others are complaining about this move and opposing it. They in turn claim that this will only make animal feed or grocery price rise.
